¡Sevilla por fin!

           ¡Sevilla por fin! Los dos último días han sido muy pesados.  Mis vuelos se desarrollaron sin contratiempos hasta Madrid, dónde había mucha niebla.  El aeropuerto estaba cerrado hasta 16:00.  Pasé casi ocho horas en Madrid antes de esperando dos horas más en la pista en el avión.  Por suerte, conocí a más estudiantes de CIEE en Madrid, quien también tuvieron que esperar a debido de la niebla.

            Después de registrarme al hotel Sol Meliá Sevilla, los estudiantes del programa comieron una cena muy elaborada en el restaurante del hotel. El hotel Sol Melía Sevilla es decididamente el hotel más lujoso que he me quedo en mi vida.  El interior se parece como un barco de crucero.  Después de la cena, salí con un grupo de amigos para comer tapas y para beber vino Rioja, a pesar de estar despierto por más de 30 horas. 

            En el segundo día de orientación, todos los estudiantes fueron divididos en groups.  Fuimos a algunas secciones informativas durante la mañana y fuimos en una gira de la ciudad con nuestro guía.  Nuestro groupo (numero 3), fue a comer tapas y beber tinto verano.  Esto era seguido por las entrevistas orales de español.  Creo que hice muy bien.  De hecho, no he tenido ningún problema de entender un hablante nativo hasta que me llegué en España.  Durante la noche, todos los estudiantes internacionales fueron a ver Flamenco en el centro del ciudad, y después, fuimos a cenar en un restaurante cerca del edificio de CIEE.  La mayoría de los estudiantes fueron a una fiesta en el barre Irlandés.  Voy a conocer a mi familia acogida mañana a las 10:30.

            Seville at last! The last two days have been extremely tiresome, but the journey was well worth it.  The flights went as planned until we arrived in Madrid, where a dense fog closed down the airport until almost 4pm local time. I spent 8 hours in the airport before waiting on the runway for another two hours. Luckily, the Madrid airport was full of other CIEE study abroad students on their way to Seville. 

            After checking in at the Sol Meliá Hotel, the group was greeted by an elaborate dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.  The Sol Meliá Sevilla is decidedly one of the most luxurious hotels at which I have stayed.  It looks exactly like the inside of a cruise ship. After dinner, I went out with a group of friends for tapas and red wine, despite being awake for more than 30 hours.

            On the second day of orientation, all of the students were divided into orientation groups. We went to informal information sessions in the morning and then went on a city tour with our group guide. Our group (number 3) went to eat tapas and drink tinto verano, a typical Spanish drink that mixes red wine with carbonated lemonade.  Our Spanish oral interviews followed, and I think I did extremely well.  I’ve yet to have any language difficulties with any native speakers.  Even the flight attendants on the airplane spoke to me in only Spanish. In the evening, everyone went to see Flamenco and then went to dinner at a restaurant near the CIEE study center.  Most students then headed to an international party hosted by the group “We Love Spain” at a local Irish Pub. I will meet my host family at 10:30 tomorrow morning.
